Department of Public Safety Director

Director of Public Safety Al Robinson is director of the Department of Public Safety. He leads a department of 39 public safety officers.

Robinson started his Law Enforcement career as a deputy sheriff in Randolph County, Ga., in the 1980s. After relocating to Grovetown in 1988, the City’s Police Department hired Robinson as a road patrol officer. In 1991, Robinson was promoted to D-Shift sergeant.

The Police Department and Fire Department were combined as the Public Safety Department in early 1994. Robinson was promoted to investigator, the city's first full-time investigator. At two different intervals during 1994 and 1995, Robinson was placed into an interim Captain's position to oversee day to day operations. He continued in this position until he was promoted to Captain in late 1995.

Grovetown Mayor and City Council appointed Robinson Director of Public Safety on June 2, 2000.
