The Jail Division is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and the jail can house up to 36 inmates. In addition to the housing units, the Jail Division also has a detoxification cell available to those in need, as well as a holding cell for those waiting processing.
Inmates are held waiting to post bond on misdemeanor traffic charges, or City Ordinance Violations, or serving time after sentencing in the Municipal Court.
Bond can be posted in the form of either cash, property or by contacting a bondsman.
Visiting hours for inmates are from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday by appointment only. Contact the on-duty Jail Officer at 706-863-1212.
Inmates on State charges are processed through the Jail Division, and if unable to post a bond, are transferred to the Columbia County Detention Center.
The Jail Division maintains fingerprints, photographs and arrest reports along with processing citizen requests for fingerprinting for employment, adoption, or citizenship.
